An invite from Khalid at 4th Keighley Madina

I would extend my invitation to all scout leaders in the Keighley district.

The event is open fast together event for all people, it is next Saturday 25th June 9-10.30pm. It will be at Madina Masjid, Spencer Street, 4th Keighley Meeting place. People not of Muslim faith are invited to fast part or all of the day or refrain from certain food and drink items of their choosing if unable to fast for medical reasons (our fast starts at 2.35am(pre dawn) and finishes at 9.45pm approx (sunset)). The event will involve a presentation on fasting and a traditional meal together.

Half a Century of Adventure

Added by:Daniel Mosby On: 2016-02-13 12:49:16

Lifetime Keighley Scouter Barbara Bradley was been awarded the Chief Scout’s commendation for meritorious conduct.  Since joining the movement as a cub leader in 1967  at 2nd Riddlesden Scout Group. Mrs Bradley has held many roles including Assistant District Commissioner and District Vice-President.

Recently, Mrs Bradley has been receiving treatment for the illness that forced her retirement from weekly Scouting in 2013 aged 79.  Until this point she was actively leading a vibrant and growing colony of Beaver Scouts (aged 6-8). Since this point she has provided background support for other members of the group and served as a District Vice-Presdient.

In a letter to Mrs Bradley the Chief Scout Bear Grylls said she “Personifies all that is best about Scouting” and that her “devotion to duty is an inspiration to others”.

The award was presented in her home by the District Commissioner Jeanette Young, the District Chairman Ken MacKenzie and current 2nd Riddlesden Group Scout Leader Susan Dodds.  Her husband Dennis was also present.
