What do I need

For the first meeting the young person only needs to take him/her self. After that you will need a uniform, these are different to each section and can be bought from many outlets including Firths on Low Street in Keighley. The leaders will advise on which uniform to buy and when.

Most groups charge “subs” to cover the running costs of Scouting. these can be paid monthly, weekly or termly depending on which group you attend. Typical subs cost between £1.50 and £2.00 a week. There may also be an annual capitation charge of around £30.00 which includes insurance, district, county and national funding. This is often paid by the group though at no extra expense to you so check with the leaders. You can also gift aid any money you pay to Scouts (if you are a UK tax payer) this allows us to claim around 30% back from the government at no extra cost to you.

When you first join you will be asked to fill in a health form it is essential that the leaders know of any medical conditions that may effect your child. You will then be asked to sign the back of this form, stating any changes, for activities apart from the usual evening meetings.
