Scout Shuffle Expedition Event

The biggest game of hide and seek you've ever played just got bigger!


The Scout Shuffle has had a revamp! This year, we will turn the event into an expedition for teams of our Scouts to earn their Expedition Challenge whilst taking full control of their weekend's walking.

The event will take place on 24th June. Please arrive by 09:30 to give us enough time for kit check. The starting point will be announced on 24th May 2017. We will end the first day and camp at Sconce Scout Campsite, Baildon. Teams will leave Sconce on the 25th June at 10am; though, as usual, our finishing point will be kept secret until all the teams are in on Saturday night. The finishing time will still be between 16:00 and 17:00 as in previous years. All teams will be expected to finish within this time period.

The aim of the event is to walk from the start to the finish of each day without getting caught. Teams of hunters will be released half an hour after the start of the event; if a team is caught, they will lose a life. Teams MUST NOT arrive at the finish before 16:00, but MUST be in by 17:00. The scoring system will work the same as in past years: the quickest teams with the least lives lost (lives remain more important than time) will win the event. More timing information is in the rules.

As this will be an expedition, the teams will be expected to carry personal equipment for the weekend (such as clothes, sleeping bags, wash kits etc.), but group kit, such as tents and cooking equipment can be delivered to the site. You should consider this when choosing your teams. We will also be inspecting the camping areas and cooking overnight and in the morning: the Camp-Cook trophy will also be awarded at this event. Camp fees and an Expedition Challenge badge will be provided by the District, but other costs (ie. food for the weekend) should be covered by groups.

We will need teams of scouts and teams of hunters (staff) for the event. I will need details in order to confirm the campsite, so you must return the application forms by Saturday 27th May if you want to enter a team. Teams entering after this will likely not be able to camp and so not be able to join the event.
